Brand Activation Manager

Job Summary:

The Brand Activation Manager is a dedicated, passionate, brand advocate, with an entrepreneurial drive to take a premium brand to new heights. This position is for an entrepreneurial self-starter, someone who is highly driven to succeed and enjoys going the extra mile to achieve results and rewards. The Brand Activation Manager is a multi-faceted position encompassing marketing, consumer research, and activation ideation & execution.  This position will have great autonomy and ownership.  

Major Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Market Management
    • Identify, partner, and execute opportunistic events in non-traditional accounts
    • Execute localized programming that align with brand’s consumers and target accounts
    • Seek opportunities to educate and entertain industry and San Diego influencers
    • Sample, share, and educate consumers on the brand
    • Create program recaps that identify key metrics, learnings, competitive and local market insight and future program recommendations
  • Brand and Category Advocacy
    • Be the expert voice of the Rum category and work to establish and leverage Client as the expert in the category. Success will be measured on ability to educate consumers and present in a public forum.  Specific objectives required for success will include completion of the following:
      • Completion of assigned brand training modules
      • Ongoing category and brand training
      • Act as key contact for brand expertise at the consumer, distributor, agency and targeted consumer accounts
      • Create and develop a social media following via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram that adheres to corporate policy and Brand guidelines
  • Account Management
    • Visit key accounts in San Diego to establish relationships with partners/influencers
    • Perform informal and semi-formal events to educate consumers on the brand
    • Build brand advocacy through brand-specific trainings for key staff in on and off-premise accounts (bartenders, wait-staff, retail floor staff)
    • Schedule and execute on and off-premise event activations according to Brand standards
    • Increase Brand visibility in both the on and off-premise
    • Assess and audit the availability and visibility of the brand within the account
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Attend in-depth brand training
    • Reporting: Complete event reports, program recaps, expense reports, consumer insights, competitor positioning
    • Appropriately represent Client and brand and its desired target consumer demographic

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2-3 years of Marketing or Sales experience required
  • Previous experience in the beverage or consumer packaged goods industry a plus
  • Passion for super premium rum and/or brown craft spirits (bourbons, whiskies)
  • Motivated self-starter, gregarious personality, articulate, charismatic, polished, and professional
  • Willingness to work unconventional hours (late nights and weekends)
  • Exceptional organizational and event production/management skills
  • Adept at networking, selling, and interacting with diverse groups of people
  • Strong written, verbal and public speaking skills
  • Knowledge and use of Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
  • Must be willing to live in the focus market: San Diego, CA
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and be able to drive/travel through the designated market area

Additional Comments:

This is a full-time position based on an annual contract with the client.

Essential Physical Functions:

  • Communicates effectively both in person and over the phone
  • Observes associate, customer/member, or supplier behavior
  • Enters and locates information on computer
  • Ability to lift weight in excess of 40 lbs.
  • Ability to carry weight in excess of 40 lbs.
  • Ability to sit/stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to pick up and transport POS, equipment and product
  • Ability to drive/travel through the designated market area

Position Financials:

Base Salary (Annual):  $ 55,000 – $ 65,000
Bonus Potential:  $ 10,000
Auto Allowance:  $ 6,600
Communication Allowance:  $ 2,400
